  • How difficult are the walks?

    The walks have been graded easy, moderate and hard but are mainly easy to moderate.

    Most walks are a comfortable 3 to 3 ½ hours and between 9 to12 kilometres per day (only one walk of in our packages is 5 hours and this is along one of the most scenic sections of the Heysen Trail). You do not need to be a serious walker to undertake our walks but you need to be fit and healthy and enjoy the outdoors. If you have an active lifestyle and keep fit e.g. walking, bike riding, going to the gym you will enjoy the experience.

    We walk at a comfortable pace to make sure you can enjoy the scenery, and we do take plenty of breaks along the way including a stop for morning tea. To make the most of your trip it is your responsibility to have a sufficient level of fitness to complete the walks.

    If you have a medical condition we suggest you consult your doctor before booking a tour.

    On our guided walks we are there to make sure everyone is enjoying the tour regardless of the different levels of fitness within the group.

  • What is the best time to go?

    Walking the trail is best experienced during the cooler months of May/June and August/ September/October. The mild Mediterranean climate of South Australia means that the weather is cool and ideal for walking, there may be rain but there are still plenty of sunny days to enjoy.

  • What do I need to bring?

    If you want to make the most of your walking holiday you need to be prepared with the right gear.

    • Good walking shoes or boots with good grip, and that have been worn in.
    • Thick socks
    • Wet weather gear – a waterproof rain jacket (but not showerproof spray jackets or parkas which are not waterproof).
    • A warm windproof jumper or jacket of wool/polyester fleece for cooler days. (Cotton shirts or windcheaters are not suitable as they do not keep you warm when wet and retain water.
    • Lightweight, loose, quick dry long pants or shorts. Jeans are not suitable as they are cold when wet and dry slowly.
    • A hat and sunscreen.
    • A day pack with water bottle to carry personal items.
  • What will I need to carry on the walks?

    Just your day pack with water bottle and any personal items camera, sunglasses, medications etc.

  • Is my walking tour guaranteed to go ahead?

  • Do I need Travel Insurance?

  • What is a Single Supplement?

    A single supplement will apply if you are travelling on your own and would like your own room.

    A single supplement will not apply if you are prepared to share a room with a group member of the same gender.
